I wouldn't even bother with towers or a ram, personally.Īs SOON as your first 2 trebuchets each finish, pause the game, click on the newly built trebuchet and then click on Move To Reserve. When you begin a siege, and you know you are going to have time for a protracted siege, immediately start building 3 trebuchets and 1 catapult. What if I am defending? Can I aim my catapults manually to shoot farther or shorter? Seems they kept firing one distance only so I found them to be useless when defending. I'll focus on trebuchet from now on then. You have zero obligation to remain with the army and can bug out if required. You're better off joining sieging armies and letting your Engineering stat grow passively to start off with. Expect your first 4-5 sieges to not even get to the ranged phase if building rams / towers first. There is no way to select a target, so you have to be patient. If your Engineering is low, don't expect to out-build the defending force. Originally posted by Fiddle Gastro:By the time you establish siege barricades, a ram and towers, the defending castle will always be able to generate at least 2 ballistae / catapults. By building trebuchet, they have more HP and give you more time to generate a 2nd, which in turn halves the chance of being targeted. My advice is never build a catapult first, as they get destroyed too quickly. This massively improves your ability to fill all 4 ranged slots with trebuchet. After the first 50 points, you should be able to improve your ranged build speed as well as forcing a 25% chance for the defending ranged artillery to miss.
You can gradually become more effective as you rank up the Engineer perk. Thanks for your time.īy the time you establish siege barricades, a ram and towers, the defending castle will always be able to generate at least 2 ballistae / catapults. So I could use some tips and info on sieging in general I suppose. I put infantry in the courtyard in shield wall formation but that didn't help too much. That helped some but eventually they all get mowed down. xDĪlso what are some good defense tricks / suggestions? I tried putting archers on all towers near walls so they can shoot down. Is there an increase / decrease tension button to aim better I don't know about? Seems they always instantly get their ram to my door but I can't do that when I'm sieging. It seems to always be aimed at one distance and I can't pinpoint where I want to shoot. On a second note when I am defending I haven't figured out if my catapults, or mangonels, can aim higher or lower. So how do I overcome that? What are some good siege strats to use / do? How can I overcome these blasted castles? It's almost as if every enemy garrison has a Leonardo Da Vinci living there on staff to make great weapons for them at a moments notice. Even if my engineer is highly skilled it's just instantly BOOM we have catapults and you have none. So when I attempt to siege a place the enemy ALWAYS manages to get catapults up before me so they instantly destroy any siege equipment I make (except for rams and towers in the back).
